As of 2024, the implementation of certain projects has reached a new level. Together with international partners, we are preparing certain sectors of the Ukrainian economy for recovery.
Water supply industry
In cooperation with the Associations of Water Utilities of Ukraine and Slovakia, as well as with European experts, a sectoral plan for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine called Water for the Future - Modern Standards for the Restoration of Water Supply Infrastructure is being developed.
This plan is a strategic framework for restoring Ukraine's water supply infrastructure and creating conditions for attracting global capital to complex development projects.
Among the successful cases of cooperation, it is worth noting the receipt of the first ‘firm’ grants from the EU in the water sector of Ukraine.
One of these grants was attracted from the Slovak Agency for International Development to upgrade a sewage pumping station in Uman. The project involves the installation of technological equipment at 3 sewage pumping stations. This will lead to a 30-40% reduction in electricity consumption.
A project in Rivne was successfully implemented with the financial support of Slovak Aid. This project involved the installation of a sodium hypochlorite production plant, a safe reagent used to disinfect water before it is fed into the water supply network.
It is also important to note a grant from Slovak Aid that was attracted for the city of Kherson. The funds were used to purchase equipment for the production of sodium hypochlorite. This equipment ensured a continuous supply of safe drinking water to the residents of Kherson during the occupation of the city by Russian troops, when it was impossible to import any reagents and carry out annual disinfection of water supply networks.
Heating supply
Our team, as part of an international consortium, is launching a grant project aimed at helping Ukrainian cities decarbonise key areas of life. The project is funded by the European Commission. Among other things, the project will include a competition among small and medium-sized communities to select pilot communities. They will be upgraded with centralised heating systems.
At the same time, we are actively working on the entry of a Slovak investor into Ukraine with a project to modernise municipal district heating systems using modern bioheating technologies. We are currently implementing a project to modernise a boiler house in Uman.
Smart technologies and the agricultural sector
Our team ensures that innovative technologies can be used in cooperation with the Republic of Korea. We also successfully promote Ukrainian cities in the direction of smart development. In particular, with our direct involvement, the city of Uman won the K-City Network competition and received a grant from the Government of the Republic of Korea to develop the Uman Smart City Master Plan.
We are also working with the Ukrainian-Korean Association of New Construction to develop a plan for the development of Ukraine's agricultural sector. It is aimed at attracting investment, lending and developing export opportunities for Ukrainian agricultural enterprises.
Administration of the EBRD loan
Our team was actively involved in the implementation of a project to purchase 50 trolleybuses for the city of Kherson with a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. As part of this project, we also attracted grants to modernise the city's transport infrastructure, develop a sustainable urban mobility plan, support project implementation, and develop a strategy for the development of Kherson's cycling infrastructure.
Industrial parks
At the request of local communities, our team prepares concepts for industrial parks. They are an effective tool in attracting international investors. Over the past few years, we have successfully prepared industrial park concepts for the cities of Lanivtsi, Zboriv and Borshchiv, all located in the Ternopil region.
Humanitarian activities
In the context of the Russian army's targeted attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, two projects of our NGO with Ukraine2Power (Germany) and Tesla and SpaceX (USA) are of particular importance.
Together with Ukraine2Power, we are implementing a project for the long-term transfer and management of German-made mobile AC power systems to critical departments (surgical, intensive care, etc.) of medical institutions.
We are already delivering this equipment to 13 medical institutions located in the Mykolaiv region. We are already planning to deliver more equipment to medical facilities in the communities of Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson and Kharkiv regions.
From Tesla and SpaceX, we will receive 6 mobile power storage units (MPUs) and 162 420 W solar panels for MPUs, as well as 6 starlink user terminals for the balance of our NGO. This initiative was personally approved by Elon Musk.
The equipment will be transferred for long-term use to six medical institutions in the Kherson region. In the future, this equipment can be moved to other medical institutions that have an urgent need to power critical equipment.
Our team has taken on the organisational, logistical and documentary support of these projects. Without it, the above equipment could not have been transferred to the final recipients, even with the great desire of international benefactors.
With the ongoing support of the Blazer family's charitable foundations, the Daar Charitable Foundation (Houston, Texas, USA) and DAR (Ukraine), we systematically provide hospitals in the Kherson region with expensive medical equipment.
We regularly cooperate with the Caritas-Spes-Odesa Religious Mission of the Diocese of Odesa and Simferopol of the Roman Catholic Church. Together with it, we provide humanitarian aid in the form of food, hygiene products, clothing, folding beds, bed linen, stoves, etc. to the communities of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.
Together with the Italian Terre des Hommes Foundation, we delivered modular houses (112 containers) for 352 internally displaced people to the Chornobaiv community in Kherson Oblast from Kyiv Oblast.
We donated expensive equipment to Kherson Vodokanal in the form of servers and technical equipment from Vodafone Ukraine, a leading Ukrainian mobile operator.
With the charitable funds of JSC Ukreximbank, our NGO purchased power modules of frequency converters for the Kherson Vodokanal to ensure stable operation of the enterprise.
From the first days of the war until the de-occupation of Kherson, we provided humanitarian support to the communities of Kherson region together with the Blazer Family Foundation (Daar Foundation and Charity Foundation ‘Dar’).
During the occupation of the city of Kherson and the right-bank part of the Kherson region, we created the Zaporizhzhia-Kherson Logistics Hub and Life Corridor. Within its framework, we organised warehouses in Zaporizhzhia. Humanitarian goods (food packages, medicines, hygiene products, animal feed, etc.) were stored there.
These goods were delivered daily through dozens of checkpoints of the Russian military to Kherson and communities in the region in small batches (1-3 tonnes) by volunteer drivers who evacuated residents of the Kherson region. In Kherson and the region, the humanitarian aid was delivered to people through partner volunteer centres.
The 75 volunteer drivers involved risked their lives to make 116 trips and transported about 164 tonnes of humanitarian aid.
Also in Zaporizhzhia, our team opened the I Am Kherson Transit Hub with the help of the Daar Charitable Foundation (Houston, Texas, USA).
This project was created at the initiative of the Ministry for the Integration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine to provide transit shelter for evacuated residents of Kherson region in Zaporizhzhia. The project was administered by our NGO. The hub has received 1576 people.
